Mt Wellington Community Church

This week I have been reflecting on our focus for the year - FAITH. It seems that when we are faced with perplexing issues and troubles in our lives we ponder on our personal faith journey and sometimes question our faith. In our, oftentimes, limited thinking and understanding we think there are 2 alternatives:

Did I fail in my faith? OR Did my faith fail me?

I wonder why this focus on failure especially when we know that our God is a faithful God. We also have so many promises in the Word to cling to. Two verses I meditate on in troubling circumstances are:

John 14: 26 - 27 "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid".

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen".

Then when my lack of faith or comprehension continues I turn up the music and dance:

Faithful One so unchanging Ageless One You're my rock of peace
Lord of all I depend on You I call out to You, again and again
I call out to You, again and again You are my rock in times of trouble

You lift me up when I fall down All through the storm
Your love is the anchor My hope is in You alone

May our week be blessed knowing our Rock of Peace.
