Our theme this year is FAITH. The NZ Warriors remind us that we must "Keep" it. Every year after being let down Warriors fans come back and say, "This is our year!". We all have faith to some degree in something. The chair is not going to break when I sit on it; the sun is going to rise again in the morning (well every other day in Auckland). Faith is an important part of everyday life. Faith in God for some seems much harder.
James's instruction for Christians to live out their faith with their deeds: "Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead" (2:17). He was concerned that the church take care of the widows and the orphans (James 1:27), and he also wanted them to rely not on empty words but to act on their faith with deeds of love. Emily asked us last week, who were our widows and orphans today? In some cases it is our widows and orphans.
God may be asking you to put your faith in action today. It may be to go and visit someone. It could be help someone in a particular way. It could be to give someone a call. Give some sort of encouragement. It may be visit someone in hospital who is sick and prayer for them. Whatever it is that God is asking you to do, do it! He will give you the strength to do it; He will show you the way as you take that first step.
How can you demonstrate your faith in Christ to someone today?
