Genesis 1:31. God saw all that he had made and it was very good.
Over the last few months our family have become very intentional about recycling and reducing our waste. It has been amazing how many products come wrapped in soft plastic. Since separating the soft plastics we have reduced our weakly rubbish significantly. It has been an eye oening experience.
In a couple of months it will be Christmas and as usual people everywhere will be spending up large whether they can afford it or not. More products to consume and clutter our homes. More rubbish to get rid of. More plastic toys that will probably not make it to the end of Christmas day. We are encouraged to buy more all the time." Update your phone because the new one has more features". I thought I could do more with the last one.
We live on a beautiful planet. God acknowledged that it was very good. It is our duty as stewards to look after it, care for all that we have been entrusted. Caring also includes looking after our possessions so that we don't have to continuously replace them. Getting things that are fixable fixed rather than replacing them. Teaching our children the value of what they have and the hard work that goes into getting them.
I know I have been challenged but I know that it is something we will continue to do.
The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. Gen. 2:15
